How can we design a shoring system for a ductbank(0.8m x 0.8m) 2 meters below the rail tracks, with limitations of no steel shoring or trench boxes? We will be using wooden shoring, ensuring the rail remains in place.

How to support rails, potentially using lumber and jacking from the bottom? Any suggestions

A sketch of the configuration would help.

I can tell you that getting approval from the railroad for any shoring system that supports their rails is difficult. Convincing them of the adequacy of a timber shoring system will be a hard sell.

@Teesa (Structural)(OP),

I don't think that wooden shoring is a good idea . The gross size of the duct bank (0.8m x 0.8m) right?

Can you consider the following options and look for a local subcontractors for one of them ?
- thrust boring with a steel pipe D=800 mm ?
- auger boring with a steel pipe D=800 mm ?
- thrust boring with small size pipes say 150 mm dia pipes ?

A sketch needed (with showing the width of rail tracks )
