Anybody know of a supplier of Infrared/light beam shower head controllers for water conservation - they are common on hand washing sinks now. If nothing is available yet how about a ball valve operated by draw strings (one opens - one closes) installed (retrofit)just before the showerhead.
Thanks.

I have not heard of infrared shower actuators. That might be a little difficult since they are sensitive to distance from the light emitter and very sensitive to motion. They would keep turning off and on as the person moved while taking his/her shower.

I think there is a push button shower actuator that I believe is on a timer which can be set for different durations. I think they use them in correctional institutions and schools to save water.

You might try Symmons, Bradley, Chicago Faucet, or American Standard. They are probably the best chance of having them.

I just found a manufacturer which has what you seem to want.

It is Sloan Valve.

They are typically specified for flush valves, but I saw a reference to infra red shower actuators. Look them up.
