I'm using the Blind Hole command in Content 3D to create a M5 threaded blind hole. Problem is, when I view it in flat shaded, gourand shaded, etc I cannot actually see the threads. Why not?
Even more of a problem when I create a layout of this part, it will need show the dimensions of the metric thread? How do I show these dimension labels?
Sorry, if I'm not description enough. First time into threads. Any help or suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

Devin

Threads are generally not drawn as they actually look. Instead, one of several conventional representations are used. The simplest shows (for an internal thread) the major diameter as a dotted line, the minor diameter as a solid line. Dimensioning is done by using a leader.

Does this help, or should I tell you more?

Insideman,

Please tell me more about dimensioning them. I understand the conventional representations. How do I go about dimensioning using a leader so my machinists can get the specifications from my printout?

An arrow head at the thread leading to a note specifying the thread.

such as "1/4-20 UN-2B". Of course special threads require special notes, or may require an enlarged scrap view with dimensions.
