Good day to all,
I need some opinion/advise on the material of sight glass in presence of sodium hydroxide. The design temperature is around 195 degC and pressure 1.3 MPa. The only offer i got from suppliers was quartz but i am curious if borosilicate can do the job. Thank you.

Yours Sincerely,
L.Y.

NO.
What is the pH or your solution?
In fact there are some other clear 'glass like' ceramics that won't work either because some phases in them will leach at high pH.

The only glass like material that I ever saw used in such service was quartz.

Good morning,
Thank you Mr EDstainless and Mr weldstan for the replies. The pH value is 14.

Yours Sincerely,
L.Y.
