Hello everyone,

What do the term SP in Von mises stress plot correspond to? it appears like this S:Mises (Avg75%) SP:3 PI..
I obtain many types of SP (3,15,11,7) in the same plot of Von mises so what is the definition of SP.

Thanks in advance

thanks for your response, but section point is not very clear I would like more explanation if you want.what is the diffrence betweeen SP3 and SP15 and what shoul I choose ?

Thank you

You are using shells or beams, in finite elements, shells/beams have a number of section points, being, points in the (cross) section of the structure. e.g. for a rectangle you have 1 in the center, 4 in each corner, and a number of points in between. Obviously, when you bend or torque a structure, the stress in the section points will all be different.

You can find the numbering of section points in the manual, it depends on the geometry. Which one you should use depends on what you want to find out. If you want a maximum, it should be the max of all 15 SP.

Thank you sdebock I understood now, I work on the Modal dynamic of a beam with circular section I will search in the manual the numbering of section points.
