Simplest possible breaking model?

Hi

I'm still very much of a newbie to ABAQUS, and am currently getting to know my way around ABAQUS CAE. I've done some simple little elastic deformation models so far, but nothing very complex.
What I'm trying to do now, is set up a very simple 2D concept model of a piece of material (think something homogeneous, isotropic, maybe like a wafer) that gets flexed a bit and breaks. I've been experimenting with the fail stress and fail strain options under the 'elastic' category in the materials dialog, as well as with the 'brittle cracking' option, but so far no luck. I assume the fault is mine, because quite frankly, I often don't have the slightest idea what the demanded parameters represent. I've tried looking them up in the manual, but there's never an explanation of the parameters. Googling for help didn't help much either, as apparently, ABAQUS used terminology that isn't particulary common.
I guess what I really need is some kind of example .cae file, or a tutorial that shows me how to build such a model. Kind of like the flexing hollow beam one that's in the standard tutorial.

Can anyone point me in the direction of something like that?
