Simplified reps 2

Hello



Simplified Representations. In the past You could create in assembly, a new simplified rep using existing one. By create rep, include, by rep, select one (not using substitute for simplified hidden in a lower assembly level)

Can someone tell me if it is still possible?

If I understand your question correctly, all you need to do now is activate the rep, and press "New" in the View Manager's Simp Rep tab.

Your new rep will be based on the one that is active at the time.

OR..

You can select the old rep in the View Manager, right click and select Copy. This will make a new Simplified rep based on one which is not active.

This pertains to WF2 and possibly WF1 (I can't remember what exactly was changed in the View Manager)

Not realy, when you new copy a existing you only have an exact copy.

what I used to do, making several small logical reps, and than you could create a new one by adding and subtracting existing ones. I found this realy flexible an very powerfull becaus you had not to write down model names, create and evalute the subsets and add them easely to the the current.

I see.

At the moment I can only offer you 2 more suggestions:

1) Change the column setting in your model tree to show the status of the simplified reps you want to combine. Expand out your model tree a bit and you will see the status of everything on the reps you choose. This will save you from having to track what's what on paper.

2) Set up the rep using rules.

When you are defining the rep, hit the top right button in the dialog box (Setup Rules). Add a new rule for each state (Master Rep, Geom Rep, etc), and right click in the conditions field and click New, name your new rule and press enter. The Rule Editor (sort of like the search dialog) pops up. Hit the Status tab and select "Display" under Rule. If necessary change the Category to Simplified Rep, and build a set of rules based on components' status in any of your reps. You can create compound rules by using "Add new" and applying and/or operators to the rules.

It might take a bit of getting used to, but this has all the flexibility of the old way.

The ideal solution is with "search tool" there you can select on the models used in other simplified reps
You select tab ‘status’ rule ‘display’ criteria-category ‘simplified Rep’ ....

Something else to note:

If you are using Style Representations, you can recycle the rules you have used to define your simplified reps by defining the Style Rep in the same way and then just picking the same rules you have defined.

You can also create a layer based on your rule. When the search dialog is still open, click "Options" in the lower right corner and select "Save Query". When you name and save the search query, Pro/E will create a layer containing all components/features which match your criteria.

You can do the same thing directly from the search tool. A lot of my students prefer that method of creating layers.
