Hi all,
I want to make a simply supported joint between column and beam for the attached arrangement.
The column is made of a screw pile which comes with the welded plate on top. The beam would be supported by that plate on both ends. I don't want to transfer moment through these joints.
I was thinking about using a set of two bolts on each end of the beam . The bolts then would be designed for shear force and bearing capacity of plates.
The weld between the pile and plate would be designed for the bending moment coming from the bolt force acting on eccentricity against a center of gravity of the weld.
Can someone comment on this, please?
Thanks a lot,
Jed
