Simulation of a screw does not converge in Ansys

I've been having some convergence issues in my simulation.

I'm simulating a screw, in which an axial force is applied. The stresses keep rising as I refine the mesh.

I've tryied using a bi-linear material to account for material hardening.

I am using 1/4 of the geometry due to the fact that there is a symmetry, and I'm using student software.

In my university I have access to non-limited ANSYS software.

Attached is my simulation.

Any heads up?

Hi there,
please post all your informations you have! Not only that the simulation not converged. What's the purpose of your simulation? What do you expect of the simulation? Did you try hand calculation in the first place?

Back to your questions/sentences.
What's the problem with the simulation? It stopped at specific time step or not converged at all? How do boundary conditions look like? Do the dimensions of the model correspond with applied force? Do you check your material data?

Look at the mesh sensitivity study about your question of the stress rising with mesh density. Try to start with simple linear model. If it works then do other changes. You can use axisymmetric model in your case.

I cannot use your attached file due the ANSYS version differences (I'm using ANSYS 2020 R1).

I agree with the axisymmetric model; less contact issues and will solve quicker. You could also use the ANSYS Threaded contact formulation on a smooth cylinder and hole.
