Since when was the seismic clause first introduced into NBCC?

I was asked to look at renovation (with changes of structure) of an single family house that was built in 1993, but there was no seismic holddown at all (the drywalls have been removed so it is obvious). Is it that the seismic clause introduced after 1993 to NBCC?

NBCC has had seismic requirements in Part 4 long before 1993, but I don't recall any mention of seismic holddown requirements in Part 9 for a single family home. What seismic clause are you referring to?

The seismic zone is what's relevant, not just the date. In many places in Canada today there are no requirements for seismic holddowns, so we could hardly comment on whether or not there should be in your case. I would certainly not expect to see any in a house in any area where I practice.
