Siphon Effect

Hi mates!

I'm calculating the differential head of a centrifugal pump, but I don't know exactly the downstream piping design (length and height of piping). The elevation of pipe rack is undefined too.

Can I consider siphon effect (increasing piping from top to bottom), and not consider the elevation of pipe rack and piping, with no increase of differential head due to these system characteristics?

You can consider siphoning effect if the discharge piping out let is lower than your suction level. But you must make sure the pipeline is having full flow and you pump head is sufficient to reach the highest point of the pipe line.

You can consider the siphon effect only if the elevation change in the downward leg is smaller than the elevation change required to vaporize the fluid.
