I'm used to locating site improvements (edge of pavements, drainage features, paint mark lengths, curb alignments etc) using stationing noted on a site layout plan. Is location of site improvements using coordinates (northings and eastings) located and staked out by a surveyor acceptable? Thanks!

As long as the coordinate system (datum, basis of bearings, etc.) is clearly stated, then I've seen it done that way in some cases. I would recommend labeling the survey monuments (or property corners, etc.) with N/E also so the coordinate system can be recreated/checked by someone using the plan set.
