Hi,
I'm new to storm detention design. Current I have A PROJECT NEEDS TO REPLACE TWO OVERLOW STRUCTURES W/ A LARGER SIZE OVERFLOW STRUCTURE, KEEPING IE same (known), KEEPING POND STORAGE SAME (number unknown). so is there any easy way to calculate or any software for the new overflow structure and orifice size?

appreciate any input
Thanks

More details are needed in order to provide informed comments. Why do you feel a need to enlarge the structures? Since you seem to be proposing modifications to an existing detention system you also need to consider the intent and behavior of the system so you can identify any adverse effects of your proposed changes.

overflows (weirs) and orifices capacity can be hand calculated easily if you know the water depth. Pull out your Brater and Kings handbook.

routing of a flood hydrograph through a pond with an overflow spillway or drain with an orifice is much more computationally intense, and is generally done with software such as HEC1, HMS, hydrocad, etc.
