This forum is great !!

Hi

Whem I'm Editing a sketch (SW2003) and I move the pointer
over the part or a line, all of the dimensions dissapear, then I have to click outside the part to make them re-apear.

Is this an option I can turn off ?

1) I've tried re-setting the options.
2) Our other two users don't have this problem
3)I'm assuming its something simple
4)I've done a Keyword Search and FAQ

I've been on SW for 4 months, this started a couple weeks

Myne does that too, not sure why

can be annoying

Try turning off "Use Software OpenGL" in the System options.

What graphics vard do you have?

Thaks for your response, I've enjoyed your input on other threads

Oh ,I hope its not video related

My Rage 128 Pro Ultra GL needed (a few weeks ago)
to have its drivers changed to run Hardware Open GL,
this solved problems I was having with assemblies locking up during rebuild, evrything is generally smoother running,
the display looks nicer, but this may have been when the pointer dimension thing started happening. (don't want to tell the boss we need a $500 video card)

This card is aproved on the SW website
Ther's alot of cards on the list

The Rage cards are gaming cards, and it has a score of "Passed with Limitations." I think you are experiencing some of those limitations now.

You should be able to find a graphics card with a green "Passed" score for well under $500. I've been using a Elsa Gloria III for the past 4 years, without any trouble. When we bought the card it was close to $1,000, but I hear you can now get them on eBay for about $200. They aren't as fast as some of the new Wildcats or Quadro 4s, but it gets the job done time and time again.

There are a number of potential arguments you could make to justify the cost of a better graphics card.

1.) Ergonomic considerations: A user has to look at the screen for many ours at a time, and poor graphics can take a severe toll. BTW check out if you get eye strain headaches.[hammer] Best $300 I ever spent![bigglasses]

2.) Time is money: How much time is lost due to wrestling with poor equipment? It helps to have an idea of your burden rate.

3.) Platform is important: Fast trains need good tracks. Software needs to run on an appropriate platform in order to gain the full benefit. Ask yourself: would I put a brand new $200,000 CNC mill on a dirt floor in a straw hut?

You can get a good card without spending $500 bucks but think of this.

If you have more down time because of problems like this don't you think the card would pay for itself if you were working instead of sitting there trying to figure out a the problem? You get more work done with a Passing CAD card. Instead of a Pass with limitations card. I have had a card in the past like yours and you will be spending more time cussing your machine than you will be working and I know you and your boss don't want that to happen.

If I was you I would Contact your VAR and inform him of the Card you are using and have them send your boss a list of acceptable CAD cards that are a better to use with SW and the cost of each one. Or go to the SW site and check outthe prices yourself. You will be a lot happier if you just get a passing card like a Quadro, Fire GL, or a 3D labs.

Good luck,
