I was reviewing calculations for vertical vessel on skirt support.
In its report generated from PV ELITE software, in the summary table, for the skirt, it lists required thickness of skirt as "No calc"
Although the thickness used in calcs for skirt is 10mm

Does PV ELITE not calculate the required thickness for non pressure parts like skirt??

How to check if the skirt thickness input is adequate or not using PV ELITE??

Mech2325, I not well acquainted with skirt design or PVElite, but I am looking at an example problem (skirts.pvbd) included with the same. I'd like to ask:

Are you perhaps reading from the vessel summary tables showing thicknesses required for the various elements due to internal / external pressure. My example shows "No Calc" for the skirt elements due to pressure.

Skirts are of course not subject to pressure loads, but instead loads due to dead weight, wind, seismic, etc. Suggest you study the relevant examples and the help files.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Yes, I understand that they are not subject to pressure loads but my question is about PV ELITE software. Does it not calculate the skirt thickness?? And u can manually enter any thickness??
Any PV ELITE users here??

If you're looking at summary tables for Internal or External pressure calculations, it will show the skirt as "No Calc" since these values are for thickness required under pressure.

PVElite doesn't show the minimum required skirt thickness, but will only verify how much stress it is subjected to under combined loads which is shown on the "Stress due to Combined Loads" portion of the calculation.

@Raymond:
Please also guide how to add fireproofing in PV ELITE
Plus, if there is a Scheopentator and any other internals (apart from trays and packing), how to deal with them in PV ELITE for correct weight estimation

Moreover, please guide on how to cater for a burried vessel??
How to apply the soil weight as an external pressure on vessel? if, say it is buried at a depth of 5m
