Hi everyone,

I am modeling a generator decrement curve on SKM and am using a whitepaper published by Cummins (link below) to model the decrement curve. On page 2 it says the no load field current, Ifg, is obtained from the alternator submittals and is 0.88 Amps. However, SKM asks for the per unit current. Is this an error from the paper or am I missing something?

Is the software asking for the per unit value of output current of the generator?
Or possibly the per unit value of the full load field current.

Ohm's law
Not just a good idea;
It's the LAW!

"If" is the field current in per-unit at rated load, Ifg is field current at no-load. If these are given in amps you will need to calculate the per-unit values by hand.

Sorry, I forgot to specify that the whitepaper goes ahead and uses the 0.88 Amps in the per unit slot in SKM. If I have to manually calculate it, would I have to contact manufacturer for base field current? I don't think i'd use the generator FLA as that would be my armature current, correct?
