hello - i have a condition where a shaft is placed in a bore that contains a bearing - the assembly of the bearing in the bore is some what difficult to accomplish for our overseas manufacturing facility - the bearing now is a bronze sleeve bearing press fit into a housing - has anyone used a sleeve bearing that is a composite material like a du bushing (non lube)that would be pressed on the shaft as opposed to pressing it in a bore - or anyother non lube material that could be pressed on the shaft - melonite coatings or anything like that is simply out of the question due to cost & availabilty overseas - any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you

So the housing bore will become the "bearing" and the OD of the du bushing will be the journal? May need a REAL nice bored hole in the housing.

is the shaft motion rotation, axial sliding, oscillation? How many other bearings on the shaft?

It's much easier to hold tight tolerances on a shaft (turned OD) than it is on a hole (bored/reamed ID). In general what your proposing sounds tough to do.

having the "wearable" part rotating will play havoc maintaining balance (vibration)

hello again - the shaft is actually an acme screw that has a sprocket attached to the top of the now bronze bearing which runs a chain for an adjustable table top - the shaft is stationary while the nut turns in a housing bore - the screw runs vertically to raise & lower the table - there are 4 screws which rune the table top - all of the housing bores are geometrically located & precision machined - this is not my design but something i have to "fix" for someone else - i thought that maybe reversing the bearing might make some kind of difference - any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated - thank you again for the help
