Hi,

I have been modeling a slip joint of long steel poles.I have modeled two poles one into the other to form the slip joint.I am trying to the level upto which the pole has to inserted into another so that the stresses developed are within Fy. I am unable to go beyond a certain value limit of insertion and I am unable to develop stresses greater than 5000psi.Whenever I try i get the error.Too many attempts made for this increment.Kindly help as I am unable to figure out what is going wrong

Posting your model or a representative model will improve the suggestions I can provide but here goes. Try to reduce the increment size and/or try a more refined mesh where the interaction is occurring.

Hi,

I have uploaded the file. The mesh is refined.Do I still need to refine the mesh?
