I have attached a file where I have to design a control slot on a clylinder, where an other cylinder is guided. My problem is to design the perfect slot to drive the cylinder. Nx7.5 please have a look , other solutions , thanks.

here is a slightly different way to model the slot feature.

thank you Simon,
an other way, yes, I'm looking for a where the slot is really running parallel to the guided cylinder.

I'm not sure I follow? [ponder]

Thank you John,
yes, that closer to the needs. IMHO,the quality of the trim (offset) faces seems to be .... Maybe I'm stupid.

Ok, John, thanks
I thought I missed something, an option... body sweep...
Question on the assembly, on reload the assembly constraints folder gets a question mark, because some constraints are controlled from unloaded geometry. I can load this geometry on the constraint folder manually. Is there a setting to load this geometry by default on load? thanks in advance
best regards

For NX 7.5, you have to toggle OFF 'Partial Loading'. In the next version of NX we will have some additional options which will be more efficient than fully loading everything.

thank you John,
that was the problem thanks

sounds good, is there something new with the old features - pocket, pad, ... feature positioning?
best regards

As for "pocket,pad,..." (and bunch of other legacy features), there's a chance that we may take a totally DIFFERENT approach in some future release, but nothing is changing for now.

OK, I went back and took a second look at your slotted cylinder.

What I did this time was remove everything up to the Wrapped Curves. I then edited your sketch, changing it so that only the centerline was relevant and even then I removed the arcs so that all I had was a 'stick-figure' path (if I truly wanted to start over, I could have obviously created an even simpler sketch, but thought I would try and save as much as possible so that you could see what I had done). From this new sketch I created the law-extension and thickened it (without the complex faces the quality of the result was MUCH better). I then added the 3-face blends on the ends and after subtracting this body from the cylinder, I added the remaining sidewall blends. This results in a much better model, with less features and while it's a bit more indirect in some respects, the results are well worth the extra time and thought that it took to find this solution.

thank you John,
funny thing about is you have done, what I wanted to do today
