Does anyone know how to design a slotted-flange as per AS1210 fig 3.21.6.2(h)&(j) (also known as quick-actuating closure).

Thanks

farside14,
The quick actuating closures are proprietary designs, tested and approved for use in the state where the closure is registerd with WorkCover or the local authority. The AS 1210 gives only generic guides for the design of these quick acting closures, not specific calculation method. The design is based mostly on structural calculations and stress analysis rather than pressure vessel code compliance. These closures are used for large filter coalescers, pig launchers, etc.. and usually are coming from overseas, fitted to the equipment, tested and guaranteed compliance to ASME, AS or similar recognised codes, ready to be registered with the local government. Smaller ones can be purchased locally or overseas, but you can design your equipment having this closure as a welded attachment, a pressure component.
