I've got a customer running SW2008 SP3, A Dell 3G Core2 DUo, 4G Ram, Quadro FX4600 Video card. After he runs solidworks for awhile (few hours) then goes to the File menu items and the menu drop down will be very slow (up to 20-30 seconds), then moving to the next menu will be slow also and the closing of the first menu is slow.

If he reboots things speed up again for awhile. Anyone have any ideas or clues ?

Latest "approved" video drivers installed.

Sounds like his RAM is getting bogged down. I don't know all the technical terms but, in a nutshell, you need to "refresh" the memory once in a while. I could be, too, that he has a bad RAM chip...

Is he using a Microsoft mouse with Intellipoint software?
If so either dump both or update to the latest version.

Also, is Indexing active?

Thanks for the ideas.

I'm having him check the indexing when it is in slow mode and are running a logitech mouse/keyboard combination.

Have him take a screenshot of the Task Manager processes when the computer is running slow, then compare it to when normal.

Update to SP 4.0. There was another thread or 3 regarding menu problems and how slow it was and the "Window" opening the wrong files and SP 4 corrected these problems.
