The purpose of the slump test is a measure of the flowability of the concrete.

Is this for some sort of slope protection or erosion control.

Many specifications and contractors will require lower slump concrete for proper placement and finishing of concrete on slopes. This requirement may be more restrictive than the normal concrete specifications and should be noted where it applies.
