I was wondering what types of bins, boxes, trays, old coffee cups, etc, etc are your favorite for storing small circuit components at your desk/workstation.

I want to order some new ones and would like some suggestions.
I have seen a thread like this before somewhere and can't seem to find it so I will start a new one.

Thanks,

Steve

I like glass screw top jars. Fasten the screw top to the underside of a shelf. The little jars as used for spices are good.

Hummm - Topic sounds familiar. Yep, there they are. Look at the following threads.

BTW, sometimes I've folded pieces of scotch tape for storing 0603 parts like sandwiches :)

Just make sure it's not an ESD-sensitive component... or considering the recent posts, sensitive to X-rays ;-)

Well, actually I was meaning only small caps/resistors for home projects. I wouldn't buy a DSP wrapped in scotch :)

Craft stores, such as Michael's (USA) sell bin boxes with locking lids that work great for storing small quantities of SMT components. These boxes can usually be found in the bead department and only cost a couple of dollar. You can find them both with configurable compartments with dividers and with fixed compartments. The lid snaps on, locking in place and keeping all the parts in their comparments.

I typically put the taped parts in the bins with the part tag from the supplier (Digikey usually). Works great, especially for the common sizes.
