Hi Just wanted to find the smallest commercially available solar cell or similar , is 5mm x 10 mm feasible for example? it would only need to generate a small amount of power for a low power circuit. many thanks in advance. Sunclipa

I have never had the need to look for solar cells... never expected them on DigiKey, either. Good to know. Thanks, Jim!

Some great leads there . many thanks all.

Years ago did a design of a level sensor that used a bubble level tube with a light source on one side and two solderable photo sensors (custom) on the other. Accurate to a couple arc-seconds. Part of a construction laser leveling system.

Thought I would check real quick with the type of photosensor companies that make these things today. Found this. Smallest one is 1.9 by 4.1mm, and designed for solar cell use.

Wow.
Dang small!

Pretty cool though as some very low average consumption circuits could probably use those for all their energy requirements. Way more energy than vibration or thermal-differences would typically provide.

All glass diodes are photosensitive, but not necessarily optically-efficient collectors, but they are small. e.g. 1N4148
