Any fire alarm expert here?

1. Where do we need to install smoke + heat detectors? (not residential type, the one connect to fire alarm system)

2. Same question for voice evac system.

Thank you!

Contact a qualified contractor or a fire alarm panel manufacturer. This work must, by law, be done by qualified personnel. If you have to ask, you are not qualified.
No, I am not being a smart *ss, I was qualified and did a lot of fire alarm work years ago. I am no longer current in the field, and should I wish to design and/or install fire alarm systems I would take my own advice.
I know enough about fire alarms to know that I no longer know enough.

anbm:

1. Where smoke/heat detectors or a fire detection and alarm system need be installed is governed by the local buliding and fire safety codes. It depeneds where the project is located.

In the USA, it generally means that where and what type of fire alarm system is required is dicteated by State Building Codes and NFPA 101. How it needs to be installed is covered by NFPA 72.

2. Voice evac is a "type" of notification and covered again by Building Codes and NFPA 101. It is genrally required in places of assembly (auditoriums, arenas, convention centers, etc.) and high rises (building taller than 5 storys I believe or may be including 5 story)). Hospitals is another good place to have a voice evac to minimize panic and controlled reaction to an emergency conditions.

3. While you did not ask, this is a broad subject and needs to be reviewd in conjuction with sprinkler system requirements (overall fire protection) as if you have sprinkers, no. of smoke and heat detetcors required are greatly reduced. You need to some reading on this.
