We designed a cold-formed steel stud shear walls with Simpson HD holddowns. We use Simpson SET-XP epoxy for the threaded rod as the anchor bolt of the shear walls.
Today I got a question from the field guys. After the epoxy hardens, they tighten the nuts for the threaded rods. But they use 90 lbs-ft instead of 70 lbs-ft. The inspector is worried if the anchor bolts capacity has been damaged due to the over torque.
We are the engineer of record. But we don't know where the 70 lbs-ft come from and how to check if the anchor is still have enough capacity.
Any suggestions?
