Sockolets 1

Can anyone point me where to find information on Sockolets. We have a 1" 3000 with 4" long xxh nipple and 4" 600 RF flange that we are welding to a check valve coverplate. What I'm really concerned about is the coverplate to sockolet weld. The coverplate is flat and I was wondering if we need to make a buttweld connection or what to weld them together?

You can find the information that you are looking for in MSS-SP-97.

It is supposed to be a full penetration but weld. The size of the weld should be in accordance with the manufacturer-of-the-fitting's specifications.
