Hi all

I recently got a question from some colleagues.

Is there any software available today or "on the way" that can handle bridge loads (vehcicle loads) according to eurocode. And also more general loads, arbitrary loadtrains etc.

What they want is a good FEM-code with very strong automatic load capabilities. I know that the general codes ABAQUS/NASTRAN/ANSYS etc can't do this the way they want it but is there any code that can? It doesn't need all the capabilities of for example Nastran but the moving loads are very important as well as beam and plate elements.

Regards

Thomas

The following programs also do automatic load generation for bridges:
Superstress (with Autoloader)
Staad Pro (with Beava)
SAP2000
Sofistek
Strap
Leap5

They are geared up to getting results quickly for bridge analysis and should not be compared to general purpose FE codes.
