The principles for estimating the draft force on cutting blades is similar/identical to the resistance to horizontal translation of vertical and inclined plate anchors for earth retaining structures of for undersea anchorage. A helpful source is a comprehensive 1964 technical report by N. Krebs Ovesen (Danish Geotechnical Institute). Also, several papers were published in the Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division of the ASCE and also Ground Engineering in the mid-to-late 1970's (Das; Neely; Akinmusuru; Naval Civil Eng. Lab, Port Hueneme; etc.)
