Solar Farm - PQ/Grid Compliance Requirements

Hi all,

Has anyone had much experience working on large scale solar farms? I am looking to find information on grid compliance requirements (harmonics, voltage stability etc). I am based in Europe and my country has not published any specific grid codes relating to this area yet.

I see there is a book due to be published end of the month "IET Code of Practice for Grid Connected Solar Photovoltaic Systems" which may have some answers - there was a draft copy published last year for public consultation which I missed unfortunately and is no longer available.

I'd love to hear peoples experiences whether its in the United States or any of the member EU counties. Germany seem to be ahead of the game in this area so I am looking into what they do at the moment as well.

Have a look at the ENTSOE grid code (

particularly Chapter 3 on the requirements for Power Park Modules (i.e. non-synchronous generation like solar PV plants). This is fairly representative of most Europoean grid code requirements.
