Guys,

I am currently in the process of installing a Mercury 50 engine in NYC. The lube oil for this line is an exxon mobil product and a class 3 synthetic esther oil. Can anyone recommend a gasket for this type of medium. The pressure and temp are both very low. Pressure is ~50 pounds and temp is around 225 degrees F. I was thinking a Garlock Gylon 3500 style gasket would be required. Could I possibly use a standard spiral wound stainless gasket with a graphite filler?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I know my local Garlock distributor would be happy to discuss this application with me if I called him. Maybe your local distributor or Garlock HQ would be your best resource... Its their name and reputation that you're putting on the line. Keep in mind that this response as well as any others are worth pretty much what you paid for it/them. Not my reputation on the line if I say "go for the spiral wound" and it leaks three months later...
