Inspiration
Electricity is black magic to me. How this thing does that think and we all have to thank Nikola Tesla and Edison for this and in now age the engineers making it better. We still would have been early man without their innovation of electricity and their passion except Edison who was more to do with money.
Any how I was looking for a solar charger for my laptop, found some of it on amazon and ebay but was not satisfied as it did not meet the specs for my laptop [19V 3.6A 65W]. Most of them look cheap and will not be able to supply to power I want. Still hunting for constant power supply to my laptop I can across generators, but again they are noisy and not green I understand if they were fuelled by non-fossil I would definitely buy it and invest in some noise dumping solutions.
Then I came across car power adapter that converts 12vDC to 240vAC 300W-1000W. Isnt that crazy? I mean AC to DC is simple with capacitors here and few diodes there but stepping up power and voltage to AC is a whole new level of black magic.
The Project
So I thought to myself if a car battery can output AC from a DC battery then all we need is a solar battery charger, pretty obvious huh. Below is the concept of the idea
My concept
Things to buy:
1. 2.
Now according to this concept I see some flaws:
1. The amount of power output from the battery is more than power input by the solar charger. Some power problem here.
2. Converting DC to AC, from battery to inverter, and then back to AC to DC, laptop power supply. But all that energy is lost as heat so I don’t care.
I will be camping at Lake District for 2 weeks calculated the devices I am going to use and its total of 300W power usage.
Is it the right system for constant power supply for my laptop and few other appliances?
Do I need a better PV cell? Will this work?
Is there a big capacitor for the battery?
