We are experiencing some failures in our pavements that were coated with solar reflective coatings (Street Bond) ( See also attached photo. Basically, when we turn the wheels on the spot, the coating is peeling off. This happened during the summer season (about 34 degrees C). We are thinking that we need to let the asphalt to cure (together with the coating) enough so it does not soften under high temperatures (in same areas we let the asphalt (plus the coating) to "set" for long periods of time (3+ months) and we did not have this issue. Or perhaps the AC mixture should be specially designed in order to receive this coating. In areas where we do not have this coating, the same asphalt with the same traffic conditions does not fail. Do you have any experiences using solar reflective coatings? What are the typical AC mixtures that you use for coated pavements? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks !
