Soldier Pile Wall with Precast Concrete Facing 5

Need suggestions on how to attached precast concrete panels to a solider pile retaining wall with temporary timber lagging. The idea would to attach the panels using a type of anchor system that would allow for the installation of a drainage board between the panels and soldier beams.

The piles are spaced 6ft. on center and the wall ranges in height from 10 to 40 feet.

Does anyone have any experience on attaching precast panels to a soldier pile wall? If so, what type of anchoring system was used?

I have never seen it done that way. I have always done it with cast in place concrete walls 8 to 12 inches thick and rebar stirrups ties at 12inch centers welded to the HP web. Precast walls connections may have to be done from the front of the panel either sleeved or drilled thru to the HPile flange to facilitate a connection??. Good Luck.

build soldier beam walls with precast facings. Some of the facing details are patented. Usually, the connection includes a galvanized tie rod or strap that runs between a connection welded to the front flange of the soldier beam and the rear face of the precast panel. The panel may have a projecting connection plate or a recessed dove tail slot. Various types and sizes of precast panels are used. Usually there is free-draining stone backfilled behind the facing and in front of the soldier beams and lagging. The precast is installed after the soldier beams, tiebacks, and lagging have been installed full height, in a top down progression. Care must be taken to install the soldier beams at a regular spacing to match the panel connections as best as possible.

Where is your site? What will the concrete panels connect to - steel or concrete piles, or the temporary timber ones? A 40 ft high temporary timber wall is a bit scary in many areas...

You coud put the drainage fabric to the the lagging, weld some shear connectors and form ties to the soldier beams and do a cast in place wall with a one sided fom

It is a soldier pile and tieback wall with four tiers of tiebacks. The panels would connect to the steel soldier piles.
