Solid Edge Limitation

I've create a solid swept protrusion from a squared cross-section and 2 parallel tangent path lines. However, having created the protrusion, I cannot create a sketch on the surfaces which contain these path lines, only on the cross-section surfaces. If I create the protrusion with only one of these path lines, I can create a sketch on the surface containing that path line, but not its opposite side, where the other path line would be. Is this a design limitation of Solid Edge V20, anyone know? Hope not!

Hi,

you should have mentioned that you're using an academic
license. Files created with such a license can only be opened
by someone you runs SE with an academic license. The other
way round it works.
For a sweep with two pathes it seems to be a limitation (or
it's bug). Even in ST2 you can't put a sketch on any side
when using two pathes. When using one path only I was able to
put a sketch on any side.
Only thing you can do is use one of the path's lines to create
an extruded surface on which you can put a sketch (copy surface
won't work).
BTW: I've modified your sketch so that the path lines connect
to the rectangles' outer lines. Furtheron I've put in a
second model for I think that this is the way it should be
done. Always fully constrain your model (line colour turns
black) otherwise you might get into trouble. Center the
model to the CS 0,0 point will make some work easier

one option will work when using two pathes:
- select function 'parallel plane' (from the toolbar)
- select for example the y/z plane
- move it to your model and move the mouse on the bottom
edge or one of the vertical edges and move the mouse to
the end of that line until it picks the endpoint (watch
for the endpoint symbol near the cursor.
Then press LMB and terminate the command (ESC)

On that plane you can put a sketch
