ISO 15156-3 does not list Tungsten Carbide as one of the qualified material, but it is observed most of the Choke Valve suppliers offer Tungsten carbide Stem Tip (Needle tip) as Solid Tungsten Carbide. It is alomost an industry practice.
Also it is understood this Solid Tungsten Carbide is HIP product form using Cobalt as binder.
My questions are
1) Does NACE MR 0175/ISO 15156 permit the use of Solid Tungsten Carbide Stem tip/ Cage without SSCC qualification testing?
2) Are there restrictions in Hardness and Chemistry for Solid Tungsten Carbide
3) API 6A does not specify any NDE (In fact there is an indicator of exclusion) or QC test for the stem tip solid tungsten Carbide, is there any ISO or ASTM standard or any world standard/code that gives recommendations (Client specific wish list not required) for HIP product forms?
