I have SP3.0 installed but I am seeing this issues since 2.0.
1. After I edit a feature its sketch becomes visible and I have to manually set it to "hide".
2. After using SW for a while and having more files open, when selecting a different file to be active from the Window menu, SW activates another file, sometimes one that is not even shown in the Window menu, just open in memory. Moving between files using Ctrl+Tab works fine all the time.

I have the exact same issue. I would prefer to select from the menu as described (old habits) now the only way is to use CTL-TAB to select the window I want.

Windows XP PRO SP 2

We have sp1.0 and both of those are an issue for us too. The second one is especially annoying because the random files that open, often won't close. Or when you do close them, another random file opens, and you end up in a very frustrating loop. We've tried figuring it out, but since it seems to happen so randomly, it is hard to recreate to show anyone.

I actually don't use CTRL+TAB or the R shortcut. The problem can occur even with just one file open. For instance, I may have an assembly open, and when I go to close it, some other file opens up. This file may or may not be associated with the assembly. It all seems very random.

That sounds like a referenced file has been opened when the assembly was opened.

Go to Tools > Options > System Options > External References, and at the Load referenced documents: option choose None.

We have that option set already and it still happens

I wonder if SW is monitoring this forum. How can we make sure they fix these issues in the next SP?

They may be, but I doubt it.

Submitting an Enhancement Request is the best bet of getting something done ... but it probably won't be in the next release, or even the one after, unless many other people also submit.

[cheers]

If you're having those problems, and can't figure it out, your best bet is to capture an Rx of it and send it to your VAR who can then send it in to SolidWorks as an SR.

Here is a copy of a post from the SW forum

"I'm here and as I stated in an earlier post in another thread (and was quoted here just above), we are aware of this problem and have a fix for SolidWorks 2008 SP04. I'm afraid we can do no better than that. The workaround for now is to use the Browse Open Documents (push and hold ctrl-tab) to switch between the open documents. As far as we are aware, there are no problems with the incorrect files coming up when you use that interface.

Sorry about the inconvenience,
Jim

The document switching problem was brought up back in January in thread559-206335. For those of you that didn't see it at that time, there is a macro posted there that may help. Dogarila, did you ever get it to work for you?

I would like to be able to disable the flyout image. I put it up there as being annoying as not getting to the file you want...!

Add me to the list of both of these annoying problems.

So has anyone found a solution to the visible sketch issue?

Sorry, can't even replicate the visible sketch issue on my machine, with or without Instant3D turned on. (SP3.1)

I think the visible sketch issue was fixed in SP3.0. I don't have it anymore.

I also have not seen the visible sketch issue since installing SP3.0. Hopefully SP4.0 comes out soon because the phantom file openings are really annoying.

I am using Windows XP Pro x64. I installed the latest SP for this Windows, SP2. I still have problem #2. I am waiting now for SW08 SP4.0.
