Hey guys, some advice required!

In my BOM (for an assembly drawing) i have a list of parts and their quantities. The issue is that there is one part that appears twice (it.s a linear repeat) and its not reflected in the bom, it only appears as 1 in the quantity. Any suggestions?

ok, mild annoyance over. what i did was take my reference for the bom from the assembly drawing as opposed to the part drawing and then drag it to the part drawing and hide the parts i didn't need.

TLH,

You should explore all the options in the BOM. There are several choices in different dialogue boxes and chances are what you want is there. You shouldn't have to resort to a kludge method. It is even easy to make a custom BOM template.

TLH,

When inserting the BOM table (not the Excel based BOM tables) in the assy drawing first select the drawing view then Insert->Tables->Bills of Materials. There are several boxes for setting your options. Under Table Template try "bom-standard". Under BOM Type select "Parts Only". Under Part Config Group try "Display configurations of the same part as separate items". Read up on the help file for more explanations.

If you have parts with multiple configurations you'll need to pay attention to their particular configuration settings. Some configurations are set to display the Document name and some are set to display the Configuration name in the BOM. Some parts can be set to not show in the BOM at all.

For the particular problem of your OP is the part that isn't being counted: a) properly shown in the assy (not suppressed), b) where is the part patterened (in this assy or a subassy), c) is the non-counted part the same config as the counted part, d) is the config of the displayed assy the same assy config selected for the BOM?

Hey updraft,

Just to clarify for you the product is an agricultural attachment, a rake, and the repeated part is a tine.

In response to your questions,

a) the parts are not suppressed
b) the part is repeated in the assembly
c) they are the same config
d) its the same config in the ass as in the BOM

On another note, I'm creating a drawing pack for the floor, first page is an assembly and each page after that is of an individual part. The issue is i have multiple configurations of each part and have to be very careful when assigning each part its drawings so as not to select the incorrect config. Do you know of a way to somewhat automate this process so it selects the correct config of the part related to the assembly? Perhaps its a silly question but i thought i would run it by you.
