Hi,

The SW software that my company provide at work, converts automatically dump body into parametrized features.
The SW student edition that my son uses at home for training doesn't do that.
And I do not know how to activate Feature Recognition on his laptop.

Can someone help us in this matter, please?

Thanks,

Sounds to me like your company has some sort of API program that auto-recognizes those features. SW Professional has Featureworks, but I have never found it to be all that powerful to auto-create features unless your parts are very basic. That add-in might not be part of the student version. You can check the add-ins to see. Also, check in the Dismissed messages to see if he turned off some sort of auto message when he imported a file.

Feature recognition is what students should learn to do. It's very good learning to take a dumb model and build a parametric one based on it. It helps because it doesn't require the person to both imagine problems and then solve them; just find an interesting one and work out how to make it.

Thank you all.
Here's how my SW display looks like (please, look at the blue pointed area):

Recognize feature is not active (it is neutral)................

3DDave: I appreciate your suggestion and I fully agree with it. But we've already covered that chapter and want to handle the SolidWorks Feature Recognition, as well!

I also run the Add-ins and add the FeaturesWorks (both boxes).....

Looks like you imported a STEP file?
Right-click on the file in the feature tree. Select dissolve feature.
Link
Then Feature Recognition should work.

I finally got it: Thanks a lot, everybody!

Chris:
On my SW is "Break Link" (instead of Dissolve Feature).
Then, an Imported1 feature is brought.
That one takes "Recognize feature".....

Thanks again!
