Hi,

We are currently looking to upgrade our operating system to Windows XP and to run Microsoft Office 2003 on it. We are currently using Windows 2000 Professional and Office 2000 Professional. We currently use Solidworks 2005 and Driveworks to generate repetative models. The problem we have is that using the proposed XP and Office 2003 the generation time of models is considerably slower. We have tried 'trimming' the system down with regard to mating animations etc... and even trying a standalone from the network, but we still have an issue with the models being generated slower than on the old spec Windows/Office. Has anyone else come across an issue like this, and how was it resolved?

Many thanks

Russell

You might want to post this as well in the Solidworks forum (if you have not already done so). Hopefully you have maxed the available memory in your workstations as once again, the latest Microsoft offerings are memory use intensive. Here is another resource on trying to improve performance on various Microsoft OSs.

Good luck.
