My DraftSight alias list was empty and if I imported the included list or manually entered new ones, they would disappear when I closed the options dialog box or clicked 'apply'.

Searching Google for "DraftSight aliases disappear" brought me to: "Draftsight Alias Commands not sticking" (thread1480-331534). There was no solution posted and the thread is now closed. I found a solution that worked for me, so am posting it here for reference.

In my case, the issue was that the Alias File Location was not set. To resolve:
1) Open the options dialog box:
Tools > Options...
2) Select 'File Locations' from the buttons on the left
3) Under 'Interface' click on the plus mark beside 'Alias File Location'
4) Click 'Browse' and navigate to the 'Alias' folder in the DraftSight AppData directory; mine was here:
C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\DraftSight\1.2.285\Alias

Once that is set, new aliases should stick. I had to re-import the original list so that I was not starting from scratch. To do so:
1) Again in the options dialog box, select 'User Preferences' from the buttons on the left
2) Under 'Aliases' click 'Import...' and locate the alias.xml file in the DraftSight program files; mine was here:
C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\DraftSight\Default Files\Alias

Hello Dave,
I appreciate that post. I am also having trouble with my alias commands. I have checked the alias folder and that is fine. When make a new alias command, it saves in the alias file but when I execute the command it does not work. For example I wanted to use bb for Break. I put it in the file and then use the refreshaliases command and reload my alias file. It says it is reloaded and then when I type in bb, it does not work. It returns the following Enter a Command now Please !!: bb
Unrecognized command BREAK. Press F1 for help. I have tried pressing F1 and dug through everything I can find but still no solution. If I just type in break or split the command works fine.

I upgraded to the latest version yesterday to see if that would fix it and nothing has changed. Exact same results. However, when I upgraded I lost the online map function. Where did that go and will it come back ? That is one reason I bought the pro version.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Drafto

Hey friends !

Drafto here. I am making progress on the alias mystery ! Also, I figured out where the online maps went and have those back.

Now I am really starting to love the new version.

Does anybody know how to make the weird circle thing that pops up every now and then go away ?

Thanks and best wishes to all.
