I 've started a bussines, a little EV station. Sadly before we can even start to charge cars, all the power cables have been cut and stolen. I don't thing that CCTV cameres will help, it's pretty easy to cut the cable and run away. And once the cable will be replaced, I am sure they will come again... The only thing I can think about is to cover the cable with some sort of mesh that can protect the cable, so they can not be cut easily with a bult cutter or an angle grinder. Itshould be a very resistant material and also flexible.

Anyone of you can help me find some material like this?

Thanks in advance to everyone

If you are old enough to recall phone booths in the US then you recall the interlocked spiral wrapped SS armor on the cords.

Kevlar

EDIT: I have reached the conclusion that battery operated angle grinders should be heavily regulated :)

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Go to a socket only type?

I thought all electric cars came with their own cables to plug into chargers, but maybe not.

Anything theft resistant is going to add to the weight and reduce flexibility ditto armoured cable so you're then into creating some sort of locking box, but then the user needs to put it back.
There is plenty of metal flexible conduit around.

In Europe it's common for AC chargers to provide only a socket, and the user is expected to bring their own cable.

The new SAE J3400 standard provides for this possibility, but I don't know if any hardware providers have made anything available yet, and most EV owners won't have their own cable.

If this is for DC fast charging, then the cable has to be integral to the station.

This isn't going to be easy to solve in high crime areas. I know of one big Electrify America in San Fran that is indoors, which means you know or can control who goes in and out.

Just as we have food deserts, there will be charging deserts.

In this case, what was the financial loss of the cords being stolen? What is the financial cost of protecting the cords? It's likely more economical to eat the losses. And with the prevalence of portable angle grinders, a projected cord is simply going to cost more to replace when it does get stolen.

Consider using aluminum conductors. I will laugh when word on the street gets out. Don't steal from that station, they have bunk cords.

Owner of EV will have to procure their own cables. EG charge from a generator at home. Lol
