Perhaps the date of manufacture may have nothing to do at all, however was the construction of the polyurethane reactors, back on the early 1970's, glass lined or were they of stainless steel? The process pressure would have been near atmospheric and max temperature 250dF. The end product drums would have DOT corrosive and flammable labels.
