Hi everyone,
I ve some questions.
1)What will be the mechanical properties of a general Steel reinforced concrete beam?where Concrete min. compressive strength = 3000 psi & Reinforced steel min. yeild strength is 4000 psi. (ASTM A615)
Actually i need youngs modulus , poison's ratio etc.
2)What is the general weight of Concrete slab per square feet.?
Thanx in advance for yr time.

There are a multitude of ways a steel reinforced concrete beam can be designed...that's job security for engineers. we would need the size (depth, span, and width).

Because there are two materials acting together, it can't be designed or analyzed as a homogeneous material like steel or aluminum. The area of steel and its location have to be addressed.

As for the general weight of a slab, depends on the thickness. In Imperial units, the density is 145 lb/cu.ft.

OMERYOUNOS,

The most common yield strength for reinforcing steel is 60,000 psi.
The average modulus of elasticity used in design is 29,000,000 psi
The poisson's ratio of steel is 0.27, but that parameter is not used in reinforced concrete slab design.
