Something turning on Lightweight parts in assemblies?

My system options are set to NOT automatically load parts lightweight (the option is in Tools, Options... Performance; check box "Automatically Load Components Lightweight" is clear). However, something turns this setting on quite frequently, and it remains on (as a system option should) for all files. Does anybody know what would trigger this setting on? I'd like for that not to happen. Thanks,

Brian

It is under Tools-Options (System Options Tab)-Large Assembly Mode. Uncheck Automatically load components lightweight. Also here you can set the number of components before it will go into Large assembly mode.

Hope this helps

Right--beat me to it.

In the thread I posted, hisrik's post told me something I didn't know--essentially that once I've used light-weight assemblies, an option becomes selected automatically.

I checked the other thread--I have the same thing happening. Large assembly mode is set at 500 parts, but my assemblies are nowhere near that. I reviewed all of the other large assembly options, and there's nothing in there that should turn lightweight parts on.

There is an option in there for automatically starting large assembly mode--you can set it to Always, Prompt, or Never. I had it set at Prompt--I just changed it to never. We'll see if that makes a difference.

I shouldn't have had to change that--I suspect that this is a defect. I'm going to wait & see if the "Never" selection fixes things, & I'll submit this to my VAR.

Thanks for the quick help!

Have you checked all the options in the Performance tab as well as the Large Assembly Mode tab (the latter being the one automatically checked after loading an assy as light-weight).

I did the same thing you did, but later found that either the Performance settings or Large Assembly Mode settings were automatically changed (can't remember which), so I had to reset things. (The always, never, prompt thing wasn't the problem.)

I checked them both--I've toyed with both in the past, & nothing seems to make a difference. The "Never" setting is the only thing I haven't changed.

Are any of your parts large, or have a long rebuild time? I had someting similar recently where a part with a large number of patterned features made for a long load & rebuild time. When included in an assy, it affected the lightweight settings.
