Hello,

Anybody using a space pilot with Windows 7 and UGNX5?
I got the buttons customized and it shows on the LCD but when I click on the button, nothing happens.

Has anyone got this to work?

Thanks!

I am using a slightly different combination, not supported by 3dconnexion any longer, but perhaps it is the same issue. I noticed I have to set up my buttons for every application I intend to use my spacemouse with. At first I thought it wasn't working properly until I noticed it worked in the app I had set it up with so I experimented and, viola! It makes sense to have customized buttons for each app but it wasn't a well documented feature.

By the way, I am using an old Spacemouse Plus USB with 3dxsoftware v3.7.22 and Windows 7 64bit and NX 7.5.1 mp1. It is working fine and I have the buttons configured the way I like so I see no need to replace it. I had to revert from 7.5.2 because I ran into an unrelated issue. Just noticed I need to update my signature. : )

I have found many, many "quirks" when using a space pilot with different softwares.

For example, if I have 2 sessions of NX running, space pilot customization doesn't work.

If I launch vericut first, then NX second, customization doesn't work.

Weird, but I learned how to make it work.

Perhaps it's something like that.

I forgot to mention the environment variables UGII_BASE_DIR and UGII_ROOT_DIR should be set to the proper path of the version you are using, otherwise the 3DxNX pulldown menu and buttons probably won't work properly.

For example if you are using 7.5:
UGII_BASE_DIR C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 7.5
UGII_ROOT_DIR C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 7.5\UGII\

FYI, multiple versions: If you use only one version you don't have to worry about switching the variables. However, if you have a need to run multiple versions on the same computer I recommend using bat files to start NX. Even better, for your systems person, have your people running from the same configuration off the network, assuming they can use the same set up. Rob Cohon, a very sharp Siemens PLM applications guy, has posted a very nice set up procedure in the Siemens forums. He even included files if you care to start with something he has set up already; you can obviously tailor it to suit your needs.
