I'm using a SpaceBall 4000 FLX with SolidWorks 2003.
I'm digging it - not for ergonomics or efficiency reasons - but because it's so dang cool.
If I were getting one for personal use - I'd check e-bay for an older model.
The drivers are probably still available.
Happy hunting...

Yes and or no as the case may be!!!!!! It may take some research in old threads (including some there are headed with performance/speed and other titles). It depends on the SP's you are using and on the Spaceball driver versions, plus some graphics card and driver issues.

The Spaceballs should work great. I won a 3000 at the first SW World and it still works great.

3/4 of all the Spam produced goes to Hawaii - shame that's not true of SPAM also.......
