CADMiester,

1. ESC A. New Part
2. Increase sens. 7. Zoom to fit B. Enter
3. Decrease sens. 8. Tile horiz. C. Save Work
4. Sketch line 9. Ctrl.
5. Delete
6. Trim sketch

With these settings, the only time I need to take my hand off the Ball, is to add dimensions or get the circulation back in my hand.

My 3dConnexion Cadman and Spaceball reset as well. Every time that I exit SW or SE, the device goes back to the original settings. It's really quite bothersome. I had always thought it was an error on my part, so I've alloted some time to look at it in the future.

I have a saved profile and have had very few resetting problems. I usually restart the driver if it does reset. I am using a 4000 FLX 3DxWare 4.2.7, FW 2.43

Assy Mode.

1. ESC 7. Reset Sens. A. Left Alt
2. Show Mapping Panel 8. Increase Sens. B. Left Shift
3. Mate 9. Decrease Sens. C. Left Ctrl
4. Set Center Point
5. Set Center Axis
6. Measure

Part Mode

1. ESC 7. Reset Sens. A. Left Alt
2. Show Mapping Panel 8. Increase Sens. B. Left Shift
3. Measure 9. Decrease Sens. C. Left Ctrl
4. Smart Dim.
5. Sketch
6. Measure

Drawing Mode

1. ESC 7. Reset Sens. A. Left Alt
2. Show Mapping Panel 8. Increase Sens. B. Left Shift
3. Measure 9. Decrease Sens. C. Left Ctrl
4. Smart Dim
5. Balloon
6. Note

These are settings I've had for a long time, and they could probably be revisited. I really don't use all of the buttons, usually just Mate, Left Ctrl, Left Shift, and Esc. I think I have just found motivation to work Enter into here somewhere.

I use buttons A,B, and C frequently. I think I've become Spaceball dependent over the years. A while ago I had borrow my coworker's workstation without a Spaceball and I felt helpless.

I have my Spaceball 5000 for 10 months and I am still using it infrequently. My settings are:

In modeling mode

1. Mapping
2. Esc
3. Mate
4. Insert
5. Delete
6. Measure
----------
7. Shift
8. Control
9. Alt
----------
A. Zoom Fit
B. Zoom Area
C. Zoom In/Out

In drafting mode

1. Mapping
2. Esc
3. Dimension
4. Model View
5. Delete
6. Measure
----------
7. Shift
8. Control
9. Alt
----------
A. Zoom Fit
B. Zoom Area
C. Zoom In/Out

I am open to suggestions from heavy users on how to make more of my Spaceball.

I use buttons 1 - 9 for standard views - in model files. I never touch 1 - 9 in a drawing file... I'm afraid to :)

Button B sets my center of rotation in model files. I'm sure I set-up A & C for something (But I don't remember)

Button B is the one I use the most.

The only other "setting" I changed is the orientation. There's another thread about that somewhere...

they dont have any 3D controllers at this job. They did have them at my last job. If anyone is looking to get rid of their spaceball/cadman send me a private message/email

I have a bunch & my real name is E-Bay... [tongue]
