The speed of Writing .stp files over network from Catia has always been issue for us.
.stp file write times on V5r22 with a 32mb Catpart opened in a catia session:
Local c: 19 Seconds to get to "100%" complete, then 21 Seconds total until its completely finished.
Network Drive 20 Seconds to get to "100%" complete, then 4 Minutes total until its completely finished.
From what I understand, is that Catia generates a temporary file until you see 100%, then it converts that file to a .stp format. The second step of generating the .stp file is where we see the big difference in network vs local. We typically have files much larger than this, and our solution is to write it local then copy to network location. I understand that writing to a netwrok versus local will always be slower, but not to this extreme. The speed problem is common with all our users and all the time. I have also tried writing the file over a vpn, which turned into hours after it got to the "100%".
I have tried writing out a .stp from a different cad package, and I get 13 seconds network verus 11 seconds local.
These are the slight time differences that I would expect.
Wondering if others are experiencing this problem, or if there are any known solutions.
Thanks,
Rick
