I need to create the 3D model (Reverse Engineering) from actual parts (pinion and gear Spiral Bevel set). How the tooth dimensions (such as pitch diameter, root diameter, form diameter, clearance, helix angle, etc, etc) can be extracted from the actual parts in order to create the 3D model of this set?. Does anyone know the typical procedure to follow?. I am thinking in "gear gauges" or special template for the tooth form and for the spiral angles (something like the thread gauges that can be superposed on the actual thread, so the thread can be identified). The basic "external" dimensions such as the major and minor diameter of the cone, the taper of the cone, tooth face width, number of teeth can be roughly be figured out, but what about the information to 3D model the tooth geometry?. Thank you in advance!.
